Where we Mourn:

‘The cemetery,’ wrote Thomas W. Laquer, ‘would not speak of a place but of people from all places … unknown to each other in life and thrown together in a place with which they might have had only the most transitory acquaintance’.

In the Begining......

My name is Brian Dycke and I am a Kelowna based independent film maker doing a documentary on roadside memorials. These markers all have stories to tell and hold social implication.
I want to hear your story:
I can be contacted at: the_partingstone@yahoo.ca

This how it all began. I had heard a documentary on Roadside Memorials on CBC radio and thought to myself, there must be more to this subject than a short radio piece and so began my research. On discovering the depth and complexity of the subject, it was then I chose to create a documentary film. I had no idea as to how great the scope of subject would be.
